11 new volunteer firefighters are joining Wainfleet Fire and Emergency Services this week.
Officials say the firefighters live within the Township and bring a wide variety of highly specialized work experience and skill in industries such as electrical, construction, insurance, and railway.
Since April 2018, the recruits have completed over 100 hours of training, including Firefighter Level I and First Aid.
They will continue their education at the Firefighter Level II throughout the summer.
“These firefighters have given many hours of their personal time, away from their friends and families, to complete the required levels of training and we certainly appreciate their commitment to the community,“ said Wainfleet Deputy Chief Shawn Schutten. “These new firefighters will enhance our Fire Department’s staffing and improve our emergency response capability.”

It is anticipated that there will be another firefighter recruitment this fall or early in 2019.
