$12M worth of marijuana has been seized, and two people have been arrested, after police searched a cannabis production facility in St. Catharines.
The Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team discovered over 11,800 cannabis plants, worth nearly $12 million at a facility on Third Ave. Louth.
The location was licensed to produce fewer than 1000 cannabis plants.
Police say they also seized approximately 77-kilograms of cannabis shake.
Officers also searched a number of other homes and vehicles.
40-year-old Rodolfo Ramirez and 25-year-old Gervi Santamaria, who were both living at the location, have been charged with cultivating cannabis without authorization.
Both of the accused were remanded into custody.
The Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team is comprised of members from the OPP and police services in Barrie, Durham Region, Windsor, London and Niagara Region.
