The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for a van attack in Spain that killed 14 people and injured 100.
Three people have been arrested after the vehicle rammed into crowds in Barcelona yesterday, although the driver has not been captured after fleeing the scene.
Authorities south of Barcelona are confirming five suspects were killed in a police shootout in the seaside resort of Cambrils that is connected to the van attack.
Police say the suspects were wearing fake bomb belts when they used a car to run down people near the boardwalk, injuring six, including a police officer.
Meantime, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Canada grieves with Spain following two terrorist attacks that left at least 13 dead and more than 100 injured.
In a statement from B-C, where he is currently vacationing with his family, Trudeau says Canadians must renew their commitment to protecting the freedom to promote unity, openness and inclusion.
Global Affairs Canada says no Canadians were injured in the attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils, but those needing assistance are urged to contact the local consulate.
