The Welland and District Humane Society says 146 cats have been surrendered by a Welland resident.
The resident is from the King and Ontario Street area.
These cats are various ages, and some are pregnant.
Of the 146 cats, 30 were transferred to the Fort Erie SPCA.
They say the rest will remain at the Welland shelter, except for 10 that will be sent to the Adoption Centre in the Seaway Mall.
Any residents from the area who have expressed concerns about lost cats should go to these locations in person.
None of the cats that were taken in had identification.
All have been vaccinated and examined by veterinarians.
