A 19 year old Brock University student is now the youngest MPP in Ontario history.
PC candidate Sam Oosterhoff received over 50 percent of the vote in the Niagara West-Glanbrook by-election Thursday night.
NDP candidate Mike Thomas came in a strong second with about 25 percent of the vote, while the Liberals Vicky Ringuette received 15 percent.
Early Thursday night, PC Leader Patrick Brown appeared at Oosterhoff's campaign celebration to officially welcome the teenager to the PC party.
Oosterhoff drew attention even before the campaign started after his shocking nomination win.
The political science student beat out former St.Catharines MP Rick Dykstra and Regional Councillor Tony Quirk.
Oosterhoof, who says he is 100% pro-life, also being criticized for not answering questions like if he supports the Liberals updated sex-ed cirriculum.
After winning the by-election, the first question asked directly to Oosterhoff was if he thinks homosexuality is a sin.
He would not answer yes or no, just saying everyone should be treated with respect.
CKTB asked him if this is his first full-time job, he said it's his second.
His first job was working in construction.
When it comes to his young age, he says he has unlimited amounts of energy and will surround himself with good people.
He says he has an open door and wants to hear the concerns of Niagara residents to bring those issues to Queen's Park.
