The Canada Border Services Agency says $6.5M worth of cocaine was stopped at the Queenston-Lewsiston Bridge in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Officials releasing information on the seizure today following the arrest of a 35-year-old Brampton man.
Border officials say it was back on September 26th, 2023, a commercial truck driver arrived at the primary inspection booth at the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge and the vehicle and driver were sent for secondary examination.
They say border officers found 202 brick-shaped objects which tested positive for being cocaine.
Following an investigation, the RCMP charged 35-year-old Sukhwinder Dhanju of Brampton with importation of cocaine, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Dhanju has been released with conditions, with a court date scheduled for February 2, 2024 at 9 a.m. at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
