Their day job is protecting the streets of the Niagara Region, but today approximately 50 area police officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police, Niagara Parks Police and CN Police volunteered to take on the role of personal shoppers to 47 local children.
The kids travelled in style in a limo to the Pen Centre where they were given a $200 gift card compliments of the St. Catharines mall.
Armed with Christmas wish lists, each child was paired with a police officer when they arrive, and enjoy some bonding time over pizza & juice as they prepare to shop 'til they drop.
The children chosen for Cop Shop were recommended by their school principals and were selected because of need, recognition of specific academic or sports achievement or because of volunteer efforts that are making a difference in the community.
This is the 10th year for the CopShop program at the Pen Centre.
