A 48-year-old Wainfleet man is facing charges after a truck slammed into a house in Pelham early this morning.
Police were called shortly before 1:30 a.m. to a home on Welland Road near Haist Street following reports that a grey 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck had struck the house.
There were six people inside the home sleeping at the time, but they were not injured.
Officers arrived on the scene and say the driver was attempting to flee on foot through the hole in the house created by the truck.
When officers caught up with the suspect, they say he appeared impaired by alcohol, and empty liquor bottles were found inside the Ford.
The driver was arrested and taken to hospital for minor injuries.
48-year-old Timothy John Climenhaga has been arrested and charged with impaired operation of a vehicle, and driving while under suspension.
The truck remained inside the house this morning while experts analyzed the safety of the structure.
It ends up the home has been deemed unsafe, and the residents of the home have been displaced.
