A pair from Aaron Haydon and two from Matthew Phillip, all in the third, lead the IceDogs to a 5-3 home ice win over Ottawa. Twice down a goal, two goals in 13 seconds would prove to be the difference.
A scoreless opening twenty featured both teams trading chances. The only goal of period two came under a minute into the second and that lead stood up after 40 minutes.
Aaron Haydon's first came on a breakaway backhand, 5:31 into the third. Matthew Phillip would score his 6th less than three minutes later to give Dave Bell's team their first lead. Ottawa's response came in 40 seconds with a pair of goals to make it 3-2. The never quit hungry Dogs tied it up on Ondrej Machala's left wing snap shot with under 4 to play and Matt Phillip's game winner came 13 seconds later. Haydon into the empty net with 3 seconds left rounded out the scoring.
Stephen Dhillon made 42 saves for the victory. Dhillon now owns the OHL's second best save percentage at .920 and Stephen has stopped more shots than any goaltender in the league.
