50 new jobs are coming to west Niagara.
Niagara West MP Dean Allison announcing that Stanpac, Smithville's largest employer will be expanding its production capacity and creating up to 50 new permanent manufacturing jobs.
Stanpac is being offered a loan of up to $4.5 million by FedDev Ontario to integrate advanced manufacturing processes and add four new production lines.
The company is presently operating at near capacity.
Allison said, "Stanpac is a Canadian manufacturing success story. At at time when other companies have been reducing their production capacity, Stanpac has been expanding its operations"
Stanpac manufactures closures for glass milk bottles, and packaging for the ice cream and beverage industries. It also uses technology that prints on glass bottles.
The multi-million dollar investment will allow Stanpac to meet the needs of its existing customers and pursue additional export opportunities beyond North America.
Stanpac's paper and glass packaging products are 100 per cent recyclable.
Smithville is Stanpac's North American headquarters.
The company has been in business since 1949.
