Niagara is getting some new visitors who are hoping to call the region home.
Approximately 70 dogs and 22 cats from Northern Canada are due to arrive in Niagara sometime today.
The dogs, including some puppies were rescued in remote Manitoba communities.
Niagara SPCA and Humane Society Executive Director John Greer tells 610 CKTB it all started when the Save A Dog Network out of Winnipeg reached out.
Greer says with the harsh winter and a growing number of puppies, the network was becoming concerned about the animals chances of survival.
Greer adds he then reached out to the Ontario SPCA who helped arrange for the rescue.
After 14 days in quarantine the animals will be put up for adoption.
