Travellers have made hundreds of misconduct complaints about Canada Border Services agents over the past year, including allegations of racism and rudeness.
Data provided to The Canadian Press says that in 2017-18, 875 misconduct complaints were filed through the C-B-S-A's online portal.
Only about 12 per cent of those were considered ``founded'' -- and even the larger total represents a small fraction of the 95-million travellers seen by officers in the past year.
But a spokesman for the Toronto-based International Civil Liberties Monitoring Group says there's still cause for concern.
Tim McSorley says the allegations of racism, questioning of travellers' nationality and name-calling are particularly troubling.
A spokesman for Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale says the border agency will be included in a wider review of oversight systems the Liberal government is working on.
