A ninth man is facing charges in the death of an inmate the Niagara Detention Centre last year.
Niagara Regional Police is reporting the Homicide Unit charged a 25-year-old Hamilton man with one count of Second-Degree Murder in connection to the death of a 52-year-old man last June.
Eric Smoke was already in custody on an unrelated matter.
Smoke is the ninth person charged in the case.
All men are facing second degree murder charges, and all were inmates at the Thorold jail at the time of the murder.
