A Burlington father has been given an absolute discharge after he was charged with accidentally leaving his son in a hot car to die.
Shaun Pennell pleaded guilty to failing to provide the necessities of life to a child but a judge ruling yesterday the family has suffered enough.
According to the agreed statement of facts, on May 23rd of last year, Pennell forgot three year old Wyatt was in the car and went to his workplace at the Burlington Crossroads Centre.
He didn't realize he had left Wyatt in the vehicle until hours later when his wife called and asked why the child was not at daycare.
He immediately called 911, but paramedics were unable to revive the boy.
