Akil Thomas of the IceDogs was named today to the OHL's All-Rookie team. Thomas was selected as the first team right winger, garnering more votes than any other first year player.
Akil's 21 goals and 27 assists in 61 games were also good enough to make Thomas the runner-up for OHL rookie of the year. A first round election, 12th overall in 2016, Akil Thomas also took part in the World Under-17 Challenge in November and is currently on Canada's Under-18 team, competing in Slovakia.
Akil Thomas is NHL draft eligible in 2018 and will be returning to the IceDogs for his second OHL season in September.
