Phones across Ontario will be buzzing and beeping today as emergency management officials conduct a test of the new national public alert system.
The alert notification will be pushed to cellphones, tablets, and other mobile devices across the province this afternoon.
According to Niagara EMS, the Alert Ready test will begin around 1:55 p.m.
Although today's notification is only a test, in the future the system will active to warn Canadians about potentially life-threatening events such as tornadoes, floods, Amber Alerts, or terrorist threats.
