The Niagara Region will publicly release councillor expense claims dating back 7 years.
The documents will be released tomorrow and can be accessed on niagaraopendata.ca
The move comes after a St. Catharines Standard report in September that revealed Fort Erie councillor Sandy Annunziata had billed taxpayers for more thanĀ $4,000 in 2015 for mileage he accumulated while travelling to Toronto to appear on the Jerry Agar Show on Newstalk 1010, a radio station owned by CKTB's parent company Bell Media.
The Standard also revealing councillors were taken to task for high roaming charges on their publicly issued cell phones.
The revelations prompted council to tighten the rules on eligible expenses and adopt an official expense policy.
