A post on Facebook from Wilson's Animal Hospital in St. Catharines warns that you watch what your dog chews.
The animal hospital says a dog was given a commercially available bone from a pet store as an early Christmas present.
After enjoying the bone, the dog experienced inappetance, vomiting, discomfort and severe constipation.
Fortunately, after a few days in the hospital on fluids, laxatives, and numerous enemas with manual extraction they were able to clear her.
The dog will be okay, but the hospital suggests close supervision for any item a dog is given to chew on.
