Kip Finn, the great-grandson of legendary Niagara Falls riverman William "Red" Hill Sr., announced his intention to run in the municipal election in October.
In a news release, Finn says unfinished projects and abandoned buildings in Niagara Falls and the lack of decent jobs for residents is alarming.
He says "new blood and new vision are essential for growth and revitalization."
Finn grew up in St. Catharines and now lives in Niagara Falls.
He is a manager at Costco, having worked with the company since 1992 in St. Catharines, Burlington and Stoney Creek.
