Another lawsuit for the Niagara Region but this time not a former employee.
The company hired to build the Burgoyne Bridge is suing the Region for $10 million dollars for breach of contract.
The Region was served a statement of claim in January.
Pomerleau Inc. was awarded the construction contract to replace the aging span back in 2014 at a cost of $69.9 million.
That cost elevated throughout the project and the two parties further agreed to a cost of just over $74.6 million.
The statement of claim indicates there were at least 14 further changes to the scope of the work that resulted in additional costs to the company.
Pomerleau says it has demanded payment and the Region has refused.
The Region says it will respond with a statement of defence.
None of Pomerleau's allegations have been proven in court.
The current price tag of the Burgoyne Bridge project sits at more than $92 million dollars.
