Another Niagara business has signed on to be a certified living wage employer.
The Niagara Poverty Reduction Network is announcing Niagara Eye Care Centre in Thorold has made the commitment to pay $17.99 an hour.
That is the amount the Network says is actually needed to survive in Niagara, instead of the $14 an hour guaranteed under the provincial minimum wage.
"Ensuring our staff feel valued, respected and providing true career opportunities in an exciting and innovative work environment is as important to us as is providing top tier patient centred care to each and every patient. In fact, we believe this approach to employment helps achieve those goals," NECC co-owner Dr. Adnan Pirbhai says via a release.
