Ontario's animal welfare agency is urging people never to leave their pets alone in vehicles after a dog died while locked in a car that caught fire.
The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says many things can go wrong when animals are left unattended in vehicles -
The warning comes after a small dog was left in a running car at a Walmart parking lot in Smith Falls and the owners left the air conditioner on to keep the dog cool.
The fire chief says the car caught fire and the dog could not escape.
