A 33-year-old man is facing arson charges after Welland Fire and Emergency Services responded to 15 calls for fires at various locations in Welland.
An investigation determined the fires were suspicious in nature and that the fires were deliberately set.
The fires started June 17th within a few kilometres of the downtown core.
Deputy Fire Chief Adam Eckhart says there was a high potential for a fire in these areas to be catastrophic to businesses and people living in the area.
Shane Greenwood of no fixed address is charged with two counts of arson to property and breach of probation.
