Niagara police have made a couple of arrests following a two-month drug investigation in Welland.
Police say their investigation involved the sale of cocaine and methamphetamine.
On Friday, police seized a quantity of drugs with a street value of $6800.00 from residence on the east side of Welland.
Fifty-year-old John Hibbert is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of proceeds of crime with a value not exceeding $5000, and breach of recognizance.
Thirty-seven-year-old Eric Fidler has been charged with with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of proceeds of crime with a value not exceeding $5000.
Fidler was released with a future court date and Hibbert has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on Saturday, October 28, 2017.
This is the second time since the July of this year that Hibbert has been charged with drug trafficking related offences in the City of Welland. On July 27, 2017, the accused was also charged with offences related to possession of cocaine and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking. These outstanding matters are still before the court.
