The District School Board of Niagara reassuring parents and students at a Niagara Falls highschool, that the school is safe.
In an email, DSBN spokesman Brett Sweeney says a staff member found dust on some shelving in one of the classrooms at AN Myer Secondary.
Dust was then found in several other rooms.
Students and staff were relocated while testing on the dust was completed.
Tests confirmed it was vermiculite, used in gardening products and as an insulator for cinder blocks when the school was built.
It contained trace amounts of asbestos but air quality tests showed no hazard to the health of students or staff.
Since then an asbestos removing contractor was retained and the rooms have been cleaned and air tests have found all rooms are safe.
Parents were notified and kept abreast of the situation.
