You'll notice something a little different in Niagara Falls.
White plastic barricades filled with water now line a widened pedestrian walkway along the Niagara Parkway.
In 2016, Niagara Parks launched a barricade pilot project.
They went up again in 2017 for a short time.
Then this year, after the Toronto van attack, Chief Operating Officer David Adames says they decided to extend the protection
He says it was part of their plan all along, but they reviewed what happened in Toronto and other parts of the world.
Adames tells CKTB News people were calling and emailing asking if Niagara Parks was reviewng its safety measures.
He says as needs change, they will adapt.
