Many Fort Erie residents are speaking out against the idea of charging a fee for access to Bay Beach.
During a public meeting this week, councillors heard from more than 20 delegations as they considered charging admission to the beach and implementing paid parking in the area.
Many of the speakers implored council to allow residents to continue accessing the beach for free, noting tax payers don't want to be charged twice.
However, residents also shared their concerning stories of the beach: one woman told council that during a stroll on a Sunday she discovered a large couch left behind by beachgoers.
The conversation continued for more than an hour and a half, but a firm decision was not made.
