BC's chief coroner says 2017 was the province's most tragic year due to a record number of fatal drug overdoses.
New data from the coroners service shows more than 1,400 deaths were linked to illicit drugs, with fentanyl detected in 81 percent of the deadly overdoses.
But Dr. Patricia Daly from the BC Overdose Emergency Response Centre notes that efforts to prevent drug overdoses have saved about 10 times that number.
