If you are looking to beat the heat this Father's Day weekend at the beach, regional health officials saying that seven beaches are unsafe for swimming.

Belleview Beach in Wainfleet, Charles Daley in Lincoln, Fifty Point in Grimsby, Jones Beach in St.Catharines, Lakeside Beach in St.Catharines, Nelles Beach in Grimsby and Waverly Beach in Fort Erie are all posted by the Region as unsafe for swimming.

The region tests water at over 20 beaches in Niagara.

Beaches are posted unsafe/closed when water tests show unacceptable levels of E. Coli bacteria.

The beach might also be unsafe because of floating debris, oil, excessive weed growth, bad odours and general turbidity.

Swimming in these waters could cause infections of the ear, eye, nose, throat and skin as well as cause diarrhea if the water is ingested.
