With summer in full swing, you may be wondering which Niagara beaches are safe for swimming.
Twelve Niagara beaches are now on the unsafe list.
Beaches are posted as unsafe when water tests show unacceptable levels of E. Coli bacteria. The beach might also be unsafe because of floating debris, oil, excessive weed growth, bad odours and general turbidity.
The following beaches are currently considered unsafe for swimming:
- Belleview Beach in Wainfleet
- Bay Beach (Crystal) in Fort Erie
- Charles Daley in Lincoln
- Chippawa Conservation Beach in Wainfleet
- Jones Beach in St. Catharines
- Lakeside Beach in St. Catharines
- Nelles Beach in Grimsby
- Queen's Royal Beach in Niagara-on-the-Lake
- Waverly Beach in Fort Erie
- Crescent Beach in Fort Erie
- Long Beach Conservation in Wainfleet
- Wainfleet Lake Erie Public Access Beach in Wainfleet
