A painting found in a thrift shop a little over a year ago will finally be sold this week, for at least $45,000.
It's by the prolific Canadian folk artist Maud Lewis, who's the subject of an independent biopic that took Atlantic Canada by storm this spring.
``Portrait of Eddie Barnes and Ed Murphy'' was found in a New Hamburg thrift shop run by the Mennonite Central Committee Ontario.
Executive Director Rick Cober Bauman says the painting was appraised at roughly $16,000.
But he says there has already been a $45,000 bid and potential buyers still have several days to try to top that before the close of bidding on Friday.
The proceeds will go toward the organization's aid work, which includes countries like South Sudan where efforts are being made to fight famine.
