A private member's bill proposed by N-D-P Leader Andrea Horwath has passed second reading in the legislature, thanks to support from both the Liberal government and Opposition Tories.
The bill would give people who experience domestic or sexual violence 10 days of paid leave from work, which would be covered by the government.
Horwath says the bill would mean people experiencing such violence would have more support in order to get out of abusive situations.
The bill must still be approved by a committee and voted on again by the legislature in order to pass.
