With the recent blast of Arctic air it's no surprise ice coverage on the Great Lakes is ahead of schedule.
And a senior ice forecaster with the Canadian Ice Service says the return of frigid temperatures this week, could lead to Lake Erie becoming completely covered in ice by the end of the month.
Jason Ross tells the Standard, right now Lake Erie is about 45 percent covered in ice, noting around this time of year the lake typically would have around 8 to 10 percent ice coverage.
