The BME Church is St. Catharines is getting ready to celebrate the 30th annual Harriet Tubman Day.
Trustee and Historian at the BME Church Salem Chapel Rochelle Bush says this is a unique opportunity.
"Outside the United States we're the only municipality that celebrates Harriet Tubman Day."
Tubman was known to worship at the BME Church and was a part of the Underground Railroad. "She was here for a decade - so between December of 1851 to late December 1861. She left here late December, early January she went to Massachusetts to enlist in the Civil War."
The free celebration is taking place at the church on Saturday from 1 p.m until 4 p.m. featuring special guest speakers and a Proclamation Quartet.
Non-perishable food items will be collected for Community Care.
