The closure of the Canada-U.S. border is expected to go into effect sometime overnight tonight.
There are still a few details that are reportedly being worked out.
The move will still allow trade to continue.
Ahead of the official closure, the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission is listing the Nexus only Whirlpool Bridge closed.
On its website the Commission posted a statement that reads, " At this time all three Niagara region border crossings under the jurisdiction
of the Commission remain open for commercial crossings, “essential travel,” and trade activity. During this difficult time, we will work closely with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) andU.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to manage our border crossings with a singular focus
on the health, safety, and economic security of our countries, residents, employees, and travelers
in mind. All questions regarding what constitutes “essential travel” may be directed to CBSA and CBP."
