Get ready to rumble – for Childhood Cancer.
On June 16th, amateur boxers and Niagara influencers from across the Niagara Region will join forces in knocking out Childhood Cancer, when the first ever KO Childhood Cancer event takes place at the Scotiabank Convention Center (SCCN).
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Canadian Cancer Society and Ronald McDonald House in Hamilton.
“Both are charities that are near and dear to my heart, which support childhood cancer research and children directly, so it makes perfect sense to work closely together, ” said Mike Strange, Co-chair for the event.
Sanctioned by Boxing Ontario, KO Childhood Cancer will feature a card of eight boxing matches, ranging in various weight classes, skill levels and divisions. Competitors are currently going through a rigorous training schedule with Former Olympian and Professional Boxers Mike Strange and Billy Irwin in preparation for their fights.
“For the majority of the competitors, this will be the first time they will be getting into a boxing ring and competing, so it should make for an interesting night. And it’s all for a good cause,” added Strange.
The event will take place “in the round” at the Scotiabank Convention Centre, who are also the presenting sponsor for the event. Approximately 1,000 reserved seating tickets are available.
“We couldn’t be more excited to support such a great event for two amazing charities,” said Noel Buckley, President of SCCN. “Our goal is to provide attendees with a five-star boxing event experience, taking no short cuts with production value. It will be a real treat for those in attendance. Tickets are limited, so we’re encouraging those interested in attending to reserve theirs soon,” he added.
Tickets for the event go on sale Friday, March 24th.
