Another frightening encounter with a coyote in the Steel City.
This time it was a young boy walking with his mother on the Waterfront Trail.
The Spec reporting the 10 year old boy was jumped from behind by a coyote.
His mother says the canine jumped on the boys chest, bared its teeth and then ran off when her son hit it.
The child was not injured
Earlier this month, a golden doodle was killed by a pack of coyotes along the Bruce Trail.
Experts say despite the two incidents, there is no reason to believe the population of coyotes has increased or that they are becoming more agressive.
