The boy who survived the London, Ont., truck attack that killed four members of his family has addressed a sentencing hearing for the self-proclaimed white supremacist convicted of the murders.
The boy, whose name is being withheld to protect his privacy, says the attack perpetrated by Nathaniel Veltman has left a devastating void in his life and that he ``would love to fight'' with his older sister one last time.
Veltman, 23, was found guilty in November of four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder for hitting the Afzaal family with his truck while they were out for a walk in London on June 6, 2021.
The boy's 46-year-old father, Salman Afzaal; his 44-year-old mother, Madiha Salman; 15-year-old sister, Yumna; and 74-year-old grandmother, Talat Afzaal, were killed.
The boy was nine at the time of the attack, which left him seriously hurt.
A statement read out at sentencing on his behalf lists a series of moments in life the boy can no longer share with those he loved most, bringing many in the packed courtroom to tears.
