A Toronto-area woman is hoping to meet the recipient of her son's heart more than a year after he died of an accidental fentanyl overdose.
Sharon Vandrish of Brampton says her 23-year-old son, Keerin John Reid, was declared brain dead and was taken off life support in September 2017.
She and Reid's father decided to donate four of their son's organs through Ontario's Trillium Gift of Life Network, knowing it's what he would have wanted.
Vandrish later wrote letters to all four organ recipients, but only the heart recipient replied -- and the two have been corresponding ever since.
While the agency allows donor and recipient families to communicate anonymously, it does not connect them to meet in person.
But Vandrish has written a post on Reddit, saying she'd love to ``close a loop'' and meet face-to-face with the man who has her son's heart.
