The estranged father of a two year old girl at the heart of yesterday's Amber Alert has now been charged.
37 year old Shawn Jason McManus is facing charges including abduction of a person under sixteen, two counts of assault, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, uttering threats to destroy/damage property, and break and enter.
Brantford Police officials say they were called to a home on Bissett Ave just after midnight. They accuse the father of breaking into the home through the back door and threatening and assaulting the mother and another resident.
Officials say he then grabbed the toddler and fled the home in a vehicle with three people.
The vehicle was later discovered by Hamilton Police and three people were arrested, but the child was nowhere to be found.
An Amber Alert was sent out around 3 a.m.
Hamilton Police say McManus turned himself in just before 4 a.m. yesterday morning and the child was safely located.
