A major break in the case of a nightclub shooting in Thorold.
Five people were arrested early this morning and are facing a total of 49 charges following a shooting at the L8 night Club in September 2017.
Niagara Regional Police teamed up with Peel Regional Police, Toronto Police Service, Ottawa Police Service and the Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit to execute three search warrants in the GTA following a six month investigation.
"Project L8 Night" stemmed from the shooting on the morning of September 3rd, 2017 that left five people with serious injuries.
Five men between the ages of 21 and 31 are in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
All men are from the GTA.
"These arrests are the culmination of a lengthy investigation and the cooperation with a number of our Police partners. This sends a strong message that violence will not be tolerated in our community and those who choose to perpetrate such acts will be found and prosecuted. I am extremely proud of the relentless investigation our officers undertook in bringing this incident to a conclusion" said Niagara Regional Police Chief Bryan MacCulloch.
31 year old Jeremy CHAMBERS of the City of Brampton is charged with the 13 alleged offences of:
- 5 counts of Aggravated Assault
- 1 count of Using Firearm in Commission of Offence
- 1 count of Discharging Firearm with Intent to Wound
- 1 count of Pointing Firearm
- 1 count of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- 1 count of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
- 3 counts of Breach of Recognizance
26 year old Jermaine CHAPMAN of the City of Mississauga is charged with the 15 offences of:
- 5 counts of Aggravated Assault
- 1 count of Using Firearm in Commission of Offence
- 1 count of Discharging Firearm with Intent to Wound
- 1 count of Pointing Firearm
- 2 counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- 1 count of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
- 1 count of Firearm Trafficking
- 1 count of Careless Storage of a Firearm
- 1 count of Tampering with Serial Number
- 1 count of Public Mischief
21 year old Shammar MIRON of Scarborough is charged with the 14 alleged offences of:
- 5 counts of Aggravated Assault
- 1 count of Using Firearm in Commission of Offence
- 1 count of Discharging Firearm with Intent to Wound
- 1 count of Pointing Firearm
- 1 count of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- 1 count of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
- 1 count of Obstruct Peace Officer
- 3 counts of Breach of Recognizance
28 year old Junior CHAPMAN of the City of Mississauga is charged with the five alleged offences of:
- 1 count of Firearm Trafficking
- 1 count of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- 1 count of Careless Storage of a Firearm
- 1 count of Tampering with Serial Number
- 1 count of Possession Contrary to Prohibition Order
22 year old Justice MARSHALL of the City of Brampton is charged with the two alleged offences of:
- 1 count of Obstruct Peace Officer
- 1 count of Breach of Recognizance
