After weeks of rumours we can now confirm the Niagara IceDogs' Akil Thomas is headed to Peterborough.
The 20 year old highly acclaimed draft pick will be going to the Peterborough Petes, in exchange for Cam Butler, two second round selections, a third round selection, and a fourth round selection.
The IceDogs have said he will still be attending tonight's pregame ceremony at the Meridian Centre.
The IceDogs were planning on honouring Thomas's gold medal victory after he scored the winning goal in Sunday's World Junior Championship game against Russia.
The former Niagara captain was drafted in the NHL's second round, 51st overall, by the Los Angeles Kings.
