Charges have been laid against Marineland in Niagara Falls and more charges are pending.
The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has laid five animal cruelty charges against the amusement park.
The charges relate to the treatment of peacocks, guinea hens and black bears.
One count is for failing to provide adequate and appropriate food and water for approximately 35 American Black Bears.
The OSPCA say the charges were laid after an investigation into a complaint received earlier this month.
Alison Cross with the OSPCA tells CKTB a complaint was made on November 10th.
She would not say whether an employee made the complaint.
Marineland closed its doors to the public after the Thanksgiving weekend on October 9th for the winter season.
No animals were removed as part of its investigation, but officials say they will continue to monitor the animals as the investigation continues.
CKTB has confirmed that further charges are pending, but Cross would not confirm if the charges relate to the treatment of whales and dolphins.
Here is a list of the OSPCA charges:
-One count for permitting a peacock bird to be in distress.
-One count for failing to comply with the prescribed standards of care for a Peacock bird.
-Two counts for failing to comply with the prescribed Standards of Care for Guinea Hens.
-One count for failing to comply with the prescribed standards of care including failing to provide adequate and appropriate food and water for approximately 35, American Black bears.
