The Niagara Region has a new CAO.
In a 17 to 8 vote at a special council meeting this afternoon, Carmen D’Angelo, who is the current CAO of Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority was appointed.
Niagara Regional Chair Alan Caslin saying that D'Angelo will be the next CAO starting November 14th.
Former CAO Harry Schlange left Niagara for Brampton's top job back in May.
D'Angelo has held senior leadership positions in both municipal and healthcare sectors.
Caslin says he has a strong understanding of Niagara's economic, social and political environment.
Pelham Mayor Dave Augustyn tells CKTB council was not kept informed that the committee was so close to recommending a candidate.
He is also disappointed in the timing of the meeting, which started in the afternoon (1:30pm) saying 5 councillors weren't there for this very important meeting.
