We now know when a major change to Niagara's garbage collection is coming.
Starting October 19, Niagara's garbage will be picked up every-other-week.
Recycling will still be picked up weekly along with green bin waste.
You can still put out the same amount of garbage, but less frequently.
If you currently have a limit of one garbage bag/ per week, you will be able to put out two every-other-week.
Regional officials brought forward the change to help increase waste diversion by encouraging residents to become more reliant on recycling and green bins.
There are some exemptions including residents with two or more children under the age of 4 in diapers, group homes, daycares, charities, and people needing to dispose of medical waste.
