The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority tweeting out that it paid in total $146,757.62 in legal fees to sue a local citizen.
In November, a judge dismissed a $100,000 lawsuit against retired Air Force major Ed Smith filed by NPCA and a $100,000 suit jointly filed by its former CAO, Carmen D’Angelo.
Niagara Falls Mayor and NPCA board member Jim Diodati tells CKTB the board - at its meeting this morning - voted unanimously to release their legals costs associated with the lawsuit.
Earlier this week, NPCA board chair Sandy Annunziata told Fort Erie town council that chances were slim the public would ever find out how much the agency spent on its lawsuit against Smith.
The NPCA has also been ordered to pay Smith's legal fees which are in excess of $130,000 dollars.
