Deputy OPP commissioner Brad Blair has been fired.
Blair, an Ontario Provincial Police deputy commissioner was fired this morning according to a spokeswoman from the OPP.
Blair expressed concerns about Toronto police Supt. Ron Taverner's hiring as the OPP's new commissioner.
Taverner is a close friend of Ontario PC Premier Doug Ford.
The OPP Spokesperson says the termination came at the direction of the deputy ministry of community safety and correctional services and was approved by the public service commission.
Blair has asked the courts to force the provincial Ombudsman to investigate the hiring of Taverner as the new OPP commissioner.
Blair is also threatening to sue Ford, alleging that the premier damaged his reputation when Ford accused him of breaking the Police Services Act by speaking out against Taverner's hiring.
