Ridley College in St. Catharines says additional resources are being made available to students and staff following the arrests of two students accused of sexual assault and sexual assault with a weapon.
Niagara Regional Police were called in last month to investigate claims of physical and sexual abuse on campus over last year's school year at Ridley College.
After interviewing several people, the Child Abuse Unit proceeded with charges against two boys, both under the 16 and both international students.
The two surrendered themselves to police, and face charges of sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, and sexual assault party to the offence.
Police say they have reason to believe there may be more witnesses, potential suspects, and victims.
The victim in the case is boy under the age of 16.
Ridley college is a private school offering classes to students from JK to grade 12.
The school, off Louth Street, also offers boarding for students to live on-campus.
Ridley College issued a statement to CKTB saying all parents of students involved have been notified and the school is cooperating with police.
Director of Strategic Communications & Marketing at the school, Andrea Carisse says they became aware of the incidents between students on campus at the beginning of December 2019.
She says they called in police, and Family and Children's Services Niagara to investigate, since they take matters involving harassment and abuse seriously.
She says additional resources are being made available to support students and employees.
Carisse says due to the confidential and sensitive nature of the situation, and the ongoing investigation, Ridley will not be providing additional comment at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Detectives have reason to believe there may be more witnesses, potential suspects, and victims.
