Fingers are crossed tightly tonight for residents in West Niagara who have been fighting to keep their local hospital open and operating.
Premier Doug Ford will be in Grimsby tomorrow morning to announce a "Plan to Help End Hallway Healthcare in West Niagara" at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
CKTB News will be there at the announcement and will bring you the details.
The hospital's future has been top of mind again in the last month after the Chief of Staff resigned following news that surgery and obstetrics programs would be removed from the hospital for over two years while renovations took place.
Former Chief of Staff Gary Benson said that would be the final blow for the hospital and services would most likely return to the hospital.
Earlier this month, the community held a public meeting where it was announced that Hamilton Health Sciences would be meeting with staff and start to look at ways to keep the departments running during those renovations.
The fight for the hospital dates all the way back to 1997 when the Conservative government at the time had planned to close the hospital.
Then in 2004, the Liberals told the community it was a "priority" to build a new facility.
Since then, construction was to begin in 2009, 2011, and 2013 before the project was ultimately cancelled.
