Memorials placed along the Burgoyne Bridge in St. Catharines following at least two tragic deaths are being moved.
Following the deaths, residents placed flowers, tokens, and messages of support along the bridge railings to discourage people from taking their lives in the same manner.
However, the mementos were moved this weekend as medical professionals worry those well-meaning messages do more harm than good.
Director of Start Me Up Niagara Susan Venditti explains what will happen to some of those items now, "Items like little teddy bears and things are probably going to the families, some of them are going to be going up to the Walker Quarry, there is a garden of remembrance there for people who have had mental health issues and passed on."
Start Me Up will keep high resolution photos of the memorials along the bridge to capture the feelings that surrounded the bridge
